Amy & Stewart – Got Married and we were invited along for the ride

So even though I’m still going through the pictures as the wedding was just May 30th. I had to put up some of my favorites in a montage for them. Amy has been chomping at the bit and was just dieing to see some before they head off to their honeymoon tomorrow. It’s really nice when you have a hard time choosing pictures to put in a collage as there are so many favorites… but it’s not the pictures, it was the memories that we got to share with Amy & Stewart. There was something special that happened that Amy & Stewart know what I’m talking about tha was truly special! It also made me realize that God gave me the gift of photography, not simply as a tool to take pictures, but as an active witness of his love.

Maybe I’m a little sentimental because of the memories or because one of my favorite movies, The Pursuit of Happyness is playing in the background… it’s definitely both.

It is my wish for everyone who reads this to pursue your dreams and your “happyness”!

She said yes… 3,500 feet up in the air

It’s official Eufrin proposed to Hannah and she said yes. You talk about a whirl wind proposal!

Eufrin surprised Hannah with a balloon ride and I was going to be there to take pictures of them taking off. I knew that Eufrin was going to be proposing, but of course Hannah didn’t. Well when I get there, Brian with Rohr Balloons said that I could go up. I don’t know who was more nervous me or Eufrin. I have always, always, always wanted to go up in a hot air balloon ever since I was a little girl. And on Wednesday I got to go. (Did I tell you though that I was scared of heights?!)

He pulls out the ring and she’s just beside herself and then remembered to say yes. I felt blessed to be in the sky floating on air being a witness to God’s greatness and his love. I never knew what the saying “Hope Floats” meant until that evening. Floating on the air with new love blooming, you just feel so hopeful about the future.

3,500 feet up in the air above Frisco, Texas, the newly engaged couple, hot air balloon captain and the shaking wedding photographer (thank you Lord for the IS lens!)

It was a ride of a lifetime, one that I will never forget and I know Hannah and Eufrin will not either.

Okay I’m going to tell you a secret… When I schedule an engagement shoot, I talk about the couple having a date, just having fun and us following them with the camera. About us getting to know eachother, and learning about their style. Well that is all true, but it’s only a small part of it. The main reason, I want them to have a great time as well as having fun myself. I feel that the shoot is successful when there are times I have to stop and take a breath because I’m laughing so hard the camera starts to shake.

With Rachael & Scott, it was just like that, it felt like a double date. They are so much fun to be around and love Dallas, so we wanted a location that would be more than just a pretty backdrop to their love. We chose the quirky Farmers Market in downtown Dallas. The colors, the people, the energy… it was perfect! After about 2 hours we took at break at the El Mercado mexican restaurant, spent about an hour just relaxing and eating… then off to the long horn statues in downtown.

So there you have it, we tell everyone it’s work, but it’s really just a lot of fun, especially when you have such a wonderfuly couple as your subject!

Rachael & Scott will be getting married September 12th at a really lovely B&B in Dallas… I can’t wait!

What we’ve been up to…

Oh so much to talk about! We’ve had some more great engagement shoots, and I’ll be putting up some samples soon, but have also done a few bridal sessions. Oh how I wish I could show them to you… but you’ll just have to wait. What is it about a wedding dress… when a bride-to-be puts it on, she just glows! I know it has little to do with the actual dress, it’s the symbolism of marrying her love… I just can’t wait to show you these brides.

In the meantime, I’ve been working on their albums, visiting the venues, going to dress fittings, and taking lots & lots of pictures.

Until after the “I do’s”, this picture will have to do… : )

Eharmony does work!

And here’s proof…

Amy & Stewart after being introduced through Eharmony, hit it off immediately. Apparently there was lots of coffee and talking on their first date. They are getting married on May 30th and Benn & I are thrilled to be their photographers for the wedding.

This is from their Engagement Session. Which is where I tell all of our future married couples to look at it like a date, just where you’re followed everywhere with a camera. It’s so important for us because it gives us such a great look at the couples personality and for the couple to get comfortable with us as photographers BEFORE their big day. You would never buy a car without taking it out for a test drive, so you should never take the chance on going with a photographer you’ve never worked with before to take pictures on one of the most important days you want to remember for the rest of your life.

From the pictures you can see how fun loving Amy & Stewart are… that’s exactly how they are in real life. Full of life, spirit & friendly competition : )

Eharmony or not, these two were meant for eachother!

Gwen, Steve & Lake Lavon

Oh the weather was absolutely perfect this last Saturday… thank goodness! For Gwen & Steve’s engagement shoot we really wanted to do a shoot at Lake Lavon a couple of Saturday’s ago, but the weather just wouldn’t cooperate, so we ended up at Haggard Park instead. The shoot went great, but since it wasn’t what we all had our hearts set on, I told them that we’d still do the Lake Lavon shoot for no extra charge just as soon as mother nature gave us the go ahead. And boy did she!!!

As always Gwen & Steve were just so darn cute! We had so much fun running around on the beach, them just hanging out, just being together and me there with a camera to capture it all. Couples like this just make my job just so darn easy!

Well even if it doesn’t, when you’re in love, it sure feels that way.

Today I was priviliged to photograph a great couple who just recently got engaged. Gwen & Steve are getting married in June and are the sweetest couple! I had so much fun. I told them just enjoy eachother’s company as if you were on a date… just with a camera following you around. They were just so much in love Steve even kept blushing… awwww young love! : )

I so love being a photographer!!!!!

Yes that’s me laying on live railroad tracks right next to the street in 30 degree weather with winds of about 20 mph, but ohhhhhh it was so worth it. It was a senior shoot of three teens and they were such great sports despite the frigid temperatures. Chris, the only male of the group, would so funny… he would get comfortable for a serious shot, then just start cracking up. In this shot, I originally wanted to focus on the tracks leading out into the distance, but I saw this beautiful reflection on the track. So here I was laying down right on the track to elongate his reflection. It turned out exactly the way I wanted it to for him. Chris is very active with the local youth, his church, band, school, community. He’s a very down to earth. I wanted a shot for him that exemplified his inner strength that I saw in him. It’s a quiet greatness that you can see. I believe this shot of him really shows that. It’s almost like the tracks are his throne.

Twilight

You know that time of day that’s between day and night… where the air is still and soft. Where the sun is setting, and everything takes on a magical glow.

Twilight has always been my favorite time of day ever since I was about 6 years old. That was when I would run around barefoot on the hot summer days, dancing on the cool green grass. Now I run around borrowing beautiful portraits of lovely people drenched in the soft twilight light.

A very wonderful woman that my husband works with was killed in an accident last night. She was not only a co-worker, but a very dear friend. Every time Jana saw my youngest daughter Audrey, she would scope her up in her arms. Even when she was 3 weeks old, Jana would get her to smile. Jana had a radiant smile that always graced her lips. She will be greatly missed!

Our thoughts are prayers are with Jana and her family!
